Why This FieldTrip Matters
Every student faces big emotions — in friendships, at home, and in the classroom. Social-emotional learning gives kids practical tools to understand themselves, manage stress, and show up with confidence.
Tapouts FieldTrip brings tapouts’ proven group-coaching approach into schools: age-appropriate pods, game-based activities, and certified coaches who make SEL engaging — not a lecture.
About the Experience
An interactive, coach-led session designed so students actually want to participate.
Led by tapouts-certified coaches, the FieldTrip adapts tapouts’ weekly live group model for a school-day visit. Students join age-banded pods, move through game-based stations, and practice real tools they can use the same day — no worksheets required.

- Game-based emotion-naming and regulation activities
- Breathing, cool-down, and coping-tool practice with coaches
- Peer sharing in a structured, safe format

Meet tapouts
tapouts is a weekly live group coaching program for children ages 4–16, built on research in psychology, neuroscience, and education. More than 50,000 families have used tapouts to help kids turn meltdowns into confidence — through fun, social sessions kids actually enjoy.
Co-founder George Moringer founded tapouts after discovering how social-emotional learning changed his own childhood. The program is developed with clinical leaders including Dr. Maggie Vaughan (Head of Youth Transformation) and Dr. Marissa Ericson (Head of Efficacy), grounding every session in evidence-based SEL and CBT principles.

What Students Learn
Emotional Regulation
Recognize body signals before a meltdown and use coached tools to calm down.
Self-Awareness
Name feelings accurately and connect emotions to choices.
Empathy
Practice understanding classmates’ experiences with curiosity instead of judgment.
Growth Mindset
See mistakes and hard moments as part of learning, not proof of failure.
Communication
Express needs and boundaries with words that reduce conflict.
Coping Tools
Leave with breathing, grounding, and cool-down strategies they can reuse.
From the tapouts Community
“Only on our 4th session and I've already seen a huge positive difference. The other day we were able to identify and address feelings and have a discussion instead of a meltdown!”
Jacqueline, tapouts parent
“We had an amazing experience with tapouts. My daughter did weekly sessions for over two years. She truly loved her connection with her primary coach, Coach Jenny.”
Jen DeBuhr, tapouts parent
“Most parents notice a difference within 4 weeks. Calmer mornings. Fewer meltdowns. A kid who can actually name what they're feeling.”
